英格兰将允许地方领导人对酒店过夜住宿征收一项小额税费。入住酒店、民宿或度假屋的客人需支付少量额外费用，通常不超过房费的5%。
曼彻斯特等一些城市已经实行每间客房1英镑（1.14欧元）的税费。新计划将于2029年前实施。许多酒店业主对这项新税不以为然。他们担心游客会为了省钱而转往其他地方。
研究表明，10英镑（11.40欧元）的费用可能会导致游客数量减少。但各地方政府可以自行决定是否征收该税。
