欧盟推出了一套新的数字护照系统。该系统对非欧盟国家公民采集面部照片和指纹信息。旅客首先需前往一台自助机办理手续。
随后他们会接受边境官员的检查。这种新的检查流程会让每位旅客花费更多时间。目前，欧洲各机场排起了长队。有些旅客要等上好几个小时，甚至因此错过了航班。
由于不同机场使用的设备各不相同，因此很难解决问题。目前，旅客在出行前无法通过手机进行任何预先核验。 希腊仍可使用旧式的护照盖章方式。机场负责人希望在夏季暂停使用新系统，以帮助旅客加快通关速度。
